To start, I was pleaseantly surprised to find that our reading was…a comic! I found what McCloud had to say interesting. I had never thought of how we percieve time and space in comics and after he pointed some of its aspects out, I began to see them in the reading itself. Initially, when he spoke of time and space, I thought of Hiro from Heroes. But once he started talking about how motion was portrayed within comics, my thoughts turned to The Matrix. I found that many of the motion lines, blurs, and styles were implemented in the movie, which was funny since they were used in a movie rather than in a comic. McCloud spoke of what role comics woud play in the future and today, they’re mostly just used for movie ideas. This reading also reminded me of how there are no comic book shops open anymore…which is upseting.
…by far my favorite reading to date.
