Gamelan music!

I find it amusing that Viola’s friend ethnomusicologist tried to make people play only parts of this kind of music. And I can’t really even pinpoint why it seems so absurd to me. Maybe because it’s repetitive? Or perhaps the whole is the music and only parts of this kind of music are insignificant.

I think we’re all sorts of structures Viola talks about: branching, matrix, and schizo.

And I think gamelan music is schizo structure. “Everything is irrelevant and significant at the same time . . . Viewers/[Listeners] may become lost in this structure and never find their way out”
